(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Right i can do it easily with friends routers. its really easy. Im not dumb when it comes to stuff like this.

However i own one of the shittist routers in the world.

BT home hub 1.5

I want To DMZ my playstation. The DMZ option however only allows me to DMZ a Device that wasnt assigned manually. So i must go on my PS3 and select Easy for the setup. Then it appears in the list to DMZ. When i DMZ it comes up with a message " do you want to assign a public Ip address to ....."

So i click yes. Go to my ps3 and try to connect to the internet and sign in psn. It comes up with a Error message about DNS . When i try to change the internet settings, it wont obtain a IP address.

I then also cant access my BT home hub from my laptop once ive DMZd. But im still connected to the internet on it.

i cant assign a DMZ to a Ip it has to be to a device that doesnt have a Static IP.

Whats the Public Ip address ?!?! is that the one thats like 89.68......
My mates router you can assign it to a local IP like 192.168.1.100
help meee

Did you try calling the support number to have them walk you through it?

The link i gave u is brought up by clicking DMZ button.

And do you have any idea how useless people that live in india are when i ask them about DMZing my playstation3. lol. Its a rhetorical question.. no need to answer. . . guess i gotta find some way for it to break. so my mum gets a proper router. lol

Suggestions?

is that the whole page? Is there anything below? Looks like you can choose PS3 and check the checkbox, then choose edit and type in your static IP address.

you're PS3 won't connect to the internet? That's whats giving your DNS error?!?!?!?

If that's the case, then I think you're setting up the manual connection wrong. Have you tried contacting support for your router?

"restart the router". now connect. .... yeah im connceted
"okay anything else?" yeah i want to DMZ it.
"okay hold on" takes 2mins
"hold on can i put you on hold" takes 5mins
"hello okay blahblahblahblah" takes 5mins for them to walkthrough to the screen im sitting at
" okay select the device you want to DMZ" k done that
" now restart the device you DMZd" k done that
" now it is DMZd " k doenst connect to the internet
"ok have you tried turning it on and off " yeah i just restarted it like you told me to

"ok try again" no doesnt work
" ok restart your router" k
go through the thing that takes him 10mins to explain that ive just done just for the same problem to happen

Basically he cant help me. ends after costing £0.50 per min for 20mins. so its cost me £10 for them to not help me.

ok, well let's forget about the router for the moment. If you've set the device in the DMZ and now having problems with your PS3, lets take a look at the PS3 settings.

Do you know the IP address of the PS3? If not, put in this information and then we can go back to the router.

1) walk through the network connection on the PS3 manually. Choose hard wire or wireless whatever you are. When you get to the IP address setting choose manual & enter

192.168.1.23
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.1.254

make sure you enable upnp and then test the connection. Do you connect now?

i enter it in manually. because i think it makes me lag less? i dunno i just do

so my ip is 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS 192.168.1.254

Before you go further. You do know that the BT homehubs capability of DMZing is only to assign a "public ip address"
Which on my laptop works fine.

And you can connect now through your PS3? If so, go back to the router and assign the device (PS3) to the DMZ.

the router basics don't match up to assign a public IP address in the DMZ. The whole point of a router is to take the public IP address and route all connections (local/router IP address) to the public one.

just get a new router and move on!

did your ISP assign or give you this router? If so, try calling your ISP support so you're not charged per minute to call India.
