1 Social - The Xbox is far more sociable than the PlayStation, with the PlayStation the only real people who ever talk are either continually arguing or are playing some pretty distorted noises down the mic.

2 Games (exclusives) - the game exclusives on the Xbox compared to the PlayStation 3 in my opinion are far more superior, for one Halo, this is one of the biggest selling games ever, it is exclusive to Xbox, Halo 2 was still being played even when Halo Reach was released, then gears of war, It is indescribable the amount of time and effort that must have went into making this game, it was so unbelievable, you can play the campaign alone multiple times without being bore.

3 Freebies - PlayStation take a starting lead here with there free online multi-player, yes this is good but Xbox use the money we spend on there subscription to help improve our gaming experience. Last FM Xbox exclusive is a good touch, it is free and can get you into some very good bands. Then Xbox further takes the leads with there Facebook/Twitter both have been put on the Xbox dashboard and are working in collaboration to improve Xbox, this is a good touch so you can check your Facebook and Twitter without even moving.

4 Cross platforming - Xbox as a Microsoft product have a couple of games that can be played cross platformed like Gears of war one and two can both be played against p.c gamer. Games like shadow run as well.

5 Collaborations and sponsorship - Xbox teamed up with Call of Duty so that Xbox gets maps before the PlayStation will, which means Xbox gets to see what its like a good period of time before PlayStation. Xbox signed up with Zune, Zune is a massive Movie store that allows you to stream from Zune directly to your Xbox console. The final to were the additions of Twitter and Facebook, this came as a surprise to everyone, but it was a good surprise.

6 Quality - If we are talking about directly Gaming quality then it is more or less even as Xbox and PlayStation both have 1080p HD but if we go into movie detail i do have to admit that PlayStation is better than Xbox for movie because of the blue ray.

7 Updating - Generally the idea is to continually update a console so that it become better than the others in the market, and Xbox does just that, Xbox release a new update at least once a month. they can change there dashboard around, add in cool new features even voice recognition downloads soon. While PlayStation do not update as much.

I just don't want to pay extra for my system to connect to the interwebz. So I go PS3

While being a PS3 player, I noticed a few things good and bad about the Xbox. In my opinion, Xbox and Ps3 are evenly matched, it just comes down to a matter of preference. Both have things that each other does not have, some excel in areas where the counterpart does not.

Social, PS3 has an entire online interactive game that people can chat with. You can make tons of friends through that, play games and just mess around. It's fun from time to time.

I still agree, because of the party chat, Xbox wins. PS3 can't even bother including that in their system as Microsoft owns the patent on that technology.

Games, you say that Xbox has a ton of great games, look at the Ps3 and the exclusives we get, many times a lot better and graphically better. You look at some of our top exclusive games and it's already been said, they haven't even reached the system peek, they thought they did and then found out that they only opened another door. This means we have even more powerful and better games to come.

You can say "Halo is the best" when in fact there is a lot of people that hate the game. I for one hate the game, I find it boring to play. When I hear people talking about the XBox, I never hear anything being said about their exclusives, I only hear the same games that ps3 supports, but often times enough I hear PS3 users talking about their exclusives that they are playing.

PS3 doesn't having much for indie gaming, which I dislike Xbox supports that. I for one am getting into XNA game development once I get my laptop.

We too have a freebie system, spend 20 bucks and get 3 months of PS+. With that, they offer all the time a ton of free stuff, free games (Small indie type of games but free games), or massive price cuts. For that 20 bucks, you can end up saving over 50 bucks and buy a good collection of games to last you months.

Just a matter on what you want and the quality of the freebie

Xbox didn't team up with Call of Duty, they had Activision sign a contract...

Zune, Zune is only great if you own a zune. Most people don't own a Zune, they own an ITouch which then makes the whole Zune thing worthless. To put music on your Itouch, you can either download it via the store or download it elsewhere, as long as you have the MP3 file, you can just data transfer it to your PS3.

PS3 also supports external wireless media devices that output a wireless signal. We can connect to those and stream videos/music through that.

Updating:

PS3 does not update too often because there is no need to update. There is no need to fix a interface that isn't broken, PS3 has had the same interface for a long time, you can create your own themes and dynamic themes now, that I find enough. It is simple and efficient.

To sum things up, I saw that you were bias towards the Xbox side so I gave notes that would be bias towards the PS3 side. In the end, both systems are great systems, it's all up to preference.

They offer experiences that each one cannot match to one another.

I would prefer to see that the two companies combine and work as one in the game development field, but as competitors, I don't see that happening any time soon.

I too have both consoles, but these days Playstation online seriously sucks. The servers have major lag and with the constant updates they're doing PSN is off for up to 24 hours at a time. Whilst you might have to pay for an Xbox gold subscription you do get your monies worth. Plus there a way more items you can buy online with xbox compared to the PS3. Having said that, i feel the picture quality on PS3 is better, and seeing as the HD movie scene was a major flop ps3 wins in this department. A ps3 console is worth the money purely for the bluray player alone. Those things are crazy expensive, plus through in the 3d experience to those who want it (yes i know its not for everyone). At the end of the day both consoles have good points and both have bad points. I guess it just comes down to personal preference

Ok, before I state this. I see that you only have a Xbox.

1. How do the consoles have different social aspects? You both talk online, on all of the SAME games? This makes no sense.
2. Halo is on PC, Thus not exclusive. Also PS3 has MORE exclusives than xbox.

5. PS3 can play all ps1-ps2 games.

7. Xbox releases updates to patch hacks and other various things, PS3's updates are always on adding things not "Changing them around"
