Then again theres a modder or 2 in every match you go into. Do you think IW would ban half the people playing online?... or do you think they'll just patch it and take no action for the thousands of people who modded within the past week?

I have to say I agree completely - Even if it's just for a few months. Also the previous poster is right - a MAC Address ban would completely disable your PS3's online capabilities.

I know it's unlikely, but I would love to see some people made an example of!

Here's my opinions on this topic.
1. I highly doubt they would ban you due to the fact the it would cost a lost of customers.
2. Its to widespread to just ban people, they will patch it first.
3. I suppose it is technically against the law but you aren't really affecting from their profits so I doubt they care. PSN is free COD4 is a flat fee from anywhere to 20-60 dollars.
4. IP ban,most ISPs refresh your IP every 24 hours,you need have the same one,plus due to many routing configurations it could only really render you to not be able to play till you did some tinkering.
5. MAC address ban,they wouldn't render your whole console obsolete,seems too harsh. Plus if it did happen you could simply install Linux and use a mac address changer(yes their is a utility for it if not multiple.

Just put my thoughts to give your mind a rest. At the most,I think they will suspend you for three days and big whoop.

For all the people complaining about hacks and such. Why are you even in the exploits/hack forum section if you disagree with the topic?

Although I hate to say it, you're probably right - It's a shame if there wasn't some kind of punishment though - e.g. reset XP to zero. That would be suitable punishement without losing customers.

As for you last comment - This forum isn't a "pro-hacking" forum, it has (in principle at least) a "neutral" stance on the subject. So why can't players that are against hacks express their opinions here too?

I do suppose that's true, its just as annoying though as when legit players complain about hacking,but usually its 1 hacker and at least 7 people who whine about it.

I guess...although all that really demonstrates is how many people are being adversely affected. Complaining about hackers is not a bad thing as you are implying. Players are entirely justified in pointing out who is cheating. This is not "whinging" or "whining", and the more people complain, the more likely it is that something is done to prevent it.

I'm genuinely not trying to flame/troll or anything, but I just don't see the point in hacking the game. Whatever short term benefits you may get from cheating are soon wiped out by either:

1. Players get wise to the hack and avoid players who cheat.
2. Everyone starts hacking and the game is full of flyers making it completely unplayable.

If someone is particularly bad at the game, why not just practice? or find some players of a similar skill level and play private matches?

What I don't understand is why people want to ruin the game for everyone else - and it does ruin it. I was playing Headquarters the other night, and after taking the objective (and claymoring the entrance) I was knifed in the back by someone hiding in the wall.

It isn't fun (for me or anyone on my team) and shows no skill at all, and frankly it's a little pathetic. CoD4 is an amazing game with a lot of longevity due to the excellent multiplayer setup - it really is a shame that so many bedroom hackers (actually they don't deserve that title) think it's "cool" or "funny" to ruin such a popular and well crafted game.

i have a tip for everyone who is worried they wont be able to play their ps3 anymore because of being banned DONT HACK YOUR SYSTEM IF YOUR SCARED OF GETTING BANNED FROM YOUR GAME AND STOP CRYING ABOUT IT its your own fault everyone posting about gettin banned you cant tell me you thought that IW would just say O look at that guy flying around our maps thats cool we should leave that in there

im not agianst hacking but dont cry about it once you do it take what you get for doing it or dont do it at all

I think if they banned thousands of peoples MAC Addesses they would lose a lot of $$$$$$$. I wouldn't buy another one just to play on-line again.
