(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Yesterday when I was coming home from NYC, I stopped at a rest stop and there was a man there dressed in raggy clothes and he was pretty old. He was standing in front of the rest stop opening the door for people and holding out a cup for money. As I was sitting in the car I watched COUNTLESS people walk by with showing no emotion or even saying thank you for opening the fuсking door door. I know he is probably the way he is because of drug problems, alcohol addiction, ect. But I mean does it really take that much effort to look at him and say thank you?!

I walked up to the guy twice in the time that we were there and gave him money and smiled at him, the first time he glanced at me and said thank you but the second time I did it he looked right up at me and said "God bless you son, people like you keep me alive." That really hit me

Sorry if this is a little bit tl;dr, but I just don't get why people would pass him by, at least smile at the guy or give a dollar, SOMETHING. Would you guys pass him by or would you give him money? Why or why not? I just don't get why you wouldn't.

Thread title is umm a bit biased but I don't give hobos money no matter how bad I feel. Trust me I see a lot when I go to downtown LA. My dad came here with $10 in his ****ing pockets. He slept in the break room at work until he met people. He worked 2 full time jobs and one part time job on his days off. He did this for 10 years then he had kids and Thursday was our day to see our dad. He worked from 6am-3pm then from 4pm-12am everyday except thursdays for another 10 years. When I see people asking for money it just pisses me off.

i buy tons of shit daily, so whenever i see a guy like this - i always give him all my pocket change.

it's irritating sometimes, though. one time, i gave a guy $10 and then he asked for a ride. So i gave him a ride to the gas station. what does he do? walk out with 3 40's. /facepalm

You gave a stranger a ride? Seems like a perfect situation to carjack you and possibly kill you...

Seriously? You don't know why someone wouldn't give him cash?
Probably because of the reason he got in that situation? DRUGS OR ALCOHOL.
And that dollar you put in his cup is going directly to his addiction fund.

that sir, is why a lot of people don't give those kind of people money

To be honest mate, The hobos have obviously done something wrong in their life, So they have made it bad for them self, Charity starts in the family, i would rather give money to my children [if i have any] than to a man or women who have cocked their life up already :/

I wouldn't give him money, I'd get him some food and help him find a shelter and some kind of job. Why? Cause I've given money to a homeless guy only to watch him go buy some booze and go back to the same damn spot drunk as ****..

As for why others don't do it?! Who knows?

--Every seen that show what would you do? The people who never stop to help always say they were to busy to notice or think about it.. What if that was god? I mean yeah if it was god they would make time for him, but not for some random person who was in need..
^See that's how I think.. But that's just me.
