(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Sooooo... people living off of the state (and in turn other people). How are we feeling about this?

Not a troll topic at all.

Everyone leeches off of something to be honest.

It may be bad what I'm going to say but people who are on it over 5 years should be cut off. Honestly, if they can't find a job in 5 years what is the pointing in paying for them to live. Use the money to improve society with hospitals etc instead of paying for their drinking habits.

5 years is still even too long. I'd say give them maybe 2 years at max, and then they're on their own.

Hmm... Also lol drinking habits? More like drug addictions.

Most of the people who are on it i believe don't even look for work, I'm so confused as to how it is so difficult for these people to find work, like how hard is it? This kind of behavior is intolerable.

I agree completely with the year thing. But what if the person isn't psychically fit/able to do a job?

Yeah 2 is more like it. I guess 5 is too generous.

I live in Ireland so drinking problems are more common than drugs lol. And yeah, barely any of them actually look for jobs because the Social Welfare pays them more than they would make if they had a job.

The original law stated 18 months. They were required to show proof that they were looking for jobs and were submitting applications. The moment they got a job, they were to report it and they would be taken off after the next month.

If the 18 months is up, they had to wait 18 more months before they could get another 18 months.

People were permitted 42 months in their lifetime from what I understand. That means 2 18 month terms and a 6 month term. Afterwards, you were on your own.

Obviously these people who are not able to work should get social welfare. But if their was some job that they can do then this should apply.

And the one thing that really gets me pissed is seeing people come into the grocery store buying alcohol and smokes with their welfare cards. Since I work at a grocery I get to see it first hand.
