It was only a matter of time before this happened. Just a few weeks after it's announcement, the first brand new Xbox 360 Slim has bricked, or Red Ring of Death'd. Some had thought Microsoft had solved the problem forever, but clearly not. It could be an error of the user, but it's probably a fault on Microsoft's side. Check out the video above.

Now we'll have to see how often this happens: even PS3s break (ylod) but according to many sources, that happens A LOT less often than RROD.
The fact that Microsoft moved to 45nm tech SHOULD solve plenty of overheating issues.
Truth is, they removed the ring for obvious reasons - because people would be all over them if some 360 "slim" would give RROD right away, after they claimed they fixed it.
With the red led, it's not as obvious.
On the other hand (and they should have seen this coming), it's easy to assume they just removed the ring to pretend the issue that causes RROD was gone, while it's actually still there but only gives a red led blinking now.
As I said, it will just take time: if the new xbox breaks more or less at the same rate of the old model, we can safely call it a fail.
If the rate of bricked consoles decreases a lot (due to actual fixes or 45nm tech, whatever), then they can call it succesful.
All in all I don't trust it much.
And I'm not a PS3 fanboy either: even though I got all Sony consoles (minus the psp), I'm the first to bash on Sony and I do nothing to hide the poor opinion I have of them.
EDIT: just one more thing.. the only real fail so far is the fact that you can't move your 360 with a disc in, otherwise it gets scratched.
Did I say scratched? I meant carved.
I can assure you I moved my PS1 ALL the time with disc running and it never scratched the disc. Same goes for the PS2. And I did move my PS3 once (idiot spilled drink pretty close to it so I moved it out of precaution) and nothing happened. One at a friend's place the PS3 FELL from a small table and not only the disc didn't get scratched, the console kept working and the game didn't even freeze.
Perhaps we're just lucky, I don't know.
I pre-ordered a 360 Slim from GameStop. Hope mine doesn't get that issue.
Microsoft sucks right now. It's been 2 weeks since I placed my pre-order for it, and nothing has come in. And they have RROD, which I thought they fixed.
