You're a complete idiot if you think I was being a fanboy.

I plainly stated that I didn't think that one console was greater than the other. I also said that I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

If anyone here is the fanboy, it's you. Because someone pointed out the flaws of the PS3, and you got defensive, and automatically said I was wrong, WITHOUT specifying why.

As for saying I'm wrong about the PSN users, Sony has over 50,000,000 users, but they're not all using the PS3. Sony has the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PSP, PS3, etc. <3

And A LOT more people have the PS3, they just don't take it online.
And don't forget, a lot of accounts are inactive, or never used if you can't perceive the meaning of that word. Or banned.

Same with the Xbox 360.

EDIT: I went back through this thread again, so many people bashing the new 360. =D It's funny, to be honest.

I really think if people just took better care of things, stuff like this wouldn't happen. : / You have to remember that you don't even know this person, or how he is with his stuff.

He could treat it all like shit, and you wouldn't even know.

It all depends on how the person uses the console, if they're good to it, it will last, if they're bad to it good luck keeping it.

Also, my sources were back from 08'. I've done more research and found that a year ago PSN reached 20,000,000 users.

You failed to mention inactivity, the fact that Sony has a bunch of consoles, and the number of banned accounts. Also, accounts that people don't even use (that doesn't include inactive accounts, because inactive accounts pertain to the population that have quit the Ps3/PSN in entirety.)

Once again, I'm not the fanboy because I'm not defending either console. =D I'm just pointing out that the Ps3 is no better than the Xbox, and the Xbox is no better than the Ps3. And the 23,000,000 for XBL is right, but you are forgetting how many people play offline, are inactive, etc.

Units sold doesn't mean that the person kept the console, either.

It probably comes down to a similar number fanbase-wise.

35,400,000 units sold... So that means 5,000,000 excess accounts... That means about a half of that have more than one account and half of that have more than one PS3 user...

Same with the Xbox 360.

Yeah, I'll admit, first my facts were inaccurate. x D I hadn't looked since 2008, but now that it has been updated, I can see that the fanbase is similar for both consoles.

And yeah, even though the Wii sucks, it seems to have pulled people in. : (

I like how people automatically assume that its the manufacturers fault when the console has a problem. Nobody takes into consideration that people are careless. Being a former Best Buy employee, I know this all too well. These consoles will get tossed, thrown, kicked, and dropped, all before hitting the shelves. Then, here comes the consumer into the store thinking they are buying a nice new shiny system, not even aware that it just received a power bomb coming off the truck lol.

Now I'm not saying that this is the case all the time. There is also the possibility that he got a "bad" one. If these new consoles were to brake on a regular occurrence then I could understand ruling this new system as a "failure".

I actually own the new 360 and for one, it is smaller. The ps3 slim is actually larger in diameter, but only by about two inches. The system does run quieter as advertised, but it does get hot within a matter of seconds, but only on the top vent. This is due to larger fan removing the hot air from the system. The rest of the system is cool to the touch. I have had no freeze ups or slow times while using it. So, who knows what this guy could have potentially done to his system to make it not work. So far so good for me, and I will report back if I have any problems but I really don't see it happening.
