You can mod your GT5 save file to change the horsepower on the cars. I am dying to figure this out. Apparently it's done through hex with the GT5.0 file from your save (perhaps it has to be decrypted first) . I am going to begin experimenting now. If anyone gets on to something please share! And I will share any progress I make as well.

Course maker... can be modified track without jailbreak@@?

i am still using hex modifing to see the car's value...
i found that each time i modified the car, load into game,
no change happened
and I save and load into computer again
Some data is different....

i try to know more about these code by changing one value IN GAME (like ps%, tuning parts, spring setting) each time
hope i m right as i want to learn this by myself :p

Hmm... should we use so called "team work"
What have you done succesfully what did work and what didnt ?

I can modify the HP, PP, RPM of any car, but it just doesn't carry over into the game. In my garage it shows the HP, but when I click the 'tuning' tab it shows that it is still at stock power levels.

For example you ... where did you search and what did you search with HEX editor

because it looks we are lost atm

agree.

In this morning I only realize that all the code of car slot start from "xxŠZ...."
with their manufacturer, country, powertrain of car like "..JPnissan4WD"
with some numbers at "..xx6800.X."
then car names, starting from strange code that generate from hexadecimal like "スカイライン"
with some correct displayed car name, year like "GT-R Mスペック Nür (R34) '02SKYLINE GT-R M・spec Nür (R34)"
then with lots of dot and tm, percentage symbols...
mainly represent drive mileage, times for win and info about car condition here?
I guess some modified parts and setting may change below codes
"....™..............@‘<†.&.....%..........."

but all are in same pattern
adding or deleting will cause garage data crash as the file size of each save is fixed

My GT5 save is over 3MB so that I have GT5.0 , GT5.1 as partial compressed...

Is my prediction about above pattern wrong?
I hope someone can give a little hints and advices for me
as I repeat change value in game and observe any difference in PC now... very tired but enjoyable Happy

Those values mean nothing, they're only cosmetical, i.e. if you change them they will show higher hp in the garage, but won't actually raise the car's power.

You mean ALL of the values i stated at above cannot help for increasing power and engine swap?
if yes, why some people tell us they just use HXD and brutalforce to apply hp power up?

Actually I still cannot realize which part is representing directly about setting(spring rate?,ps,kg ?etc.)
is there a need to convert hexadecimal into other form like binary or anything else?

You CAN do it with just HxD, but you're looking at the wrong part of the GT5. file.

The following user thanked Ragadir for this useful post:

Finding the location is relatively simple once you actually open your eyes. you will kick yourself for not realising earlier!

The important car data isn't stored there there are a couple of bytes that change there that seem to be related to menu ordering and which car was last selected in the menu, but apart from that what you're looking for isn't to be found there. There is apparently some kind of table where this stuff is stored, its a case of finding that and locating the offsets, I think.

p.s. nice photo Smile
