Post: How To play Killzone 3 From USB HDD
02-16-2011, 12:39 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The reason we need to do this is because Killzone 3 contains a file above 4GB in size as many of you will know you cannot put files above 4GB on A fat32 Usb Drive and because the ps3 dose not support ntfs this is the only way to transfer the files besides FTP in a way that multiMAN etc.. can read them.

Tested using 2D rip and multiMAN 1.15.00

1. Download OpenSplit 1.2 You must login or register to view this content.

2. Extract OpenSplit and run OpenSplit v1.2.jar

3. Click Split Big Files To .666xx
You must login or register to view this content.

4. Go to game folder e.g. BCES01007 select open
You must login or register to view this content.

5. It will begin to split the large file into 1 gb parts once at 100% quit OpenSplit
You must login or register to view this content.

6.Go to \BXXX-XXXXX\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\ it should now look like this:
You must login or register to view this content.

7.Copy the BXXX-XXXXX Folder to your GAMEZ Folder on Your External USB Drive.
You must login or register to view this content.

8. Enjoy

1. Download this file. You must login or register to view this content.
2. Extract the folder.
3. Put the psarc file into the folder you extracted.
4. Drag the psarc file to PSARC.exe
5. Drag the newly created psarc folder into where the psarc file was.
6. Delete the .psarc file because you don't need it anymore
7. Run it, and it should work.
For example

I have Uncharted 2 and the psarc file is in /ps3_game/USRDIR/build/main/
I would copy that to the folder where the program you downloaded is. (c:\...\Downloads\PSARC\). You would drag the psarc file to the exe and it would make a folder. I would then copy that folder to /ps3_game/USRDIR/build/main/ and delete the original .psarc file.

Hope I helped Happy
I might make a thread out of this if no one really knows how.

I'm not blaming you, Ali. I was asking a legit question. But, like I said, I have tried removing the patch and re-installing game to my internal and external HDD to no avail. If you have any input that might be useful, please pass it along....If the updates "kill" the game, as you say, then why is there multiple updater programs that download the .pkg files for game update/patches? From what I understand, the updates for the games will install by themselves on the PS3, even if you arent signed into PSN, so long as your PS3 has internet connection once you boot the game. My original question, hours ago, was about splitting the file using Split4g.....this is the first one I've had to split cuz of the 4gig limit on the HDD.

At least I can fight
The game's amazing but they made it 10x easier, I've already got all the single player trophies so all I have to do is the multiplayer and then I've got a platinum.

I have a theory.
what if AFTER we move the split up game folder to the external HDD, we REJOIN them using the feature of opensplit to get it back to the original way, THEN try to play it?
im going to try this and see if it works.
ill post my results.
