Post: How To play Killzone 3 From USB HDD
02-16-2011, 12:39 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The reason we need to do this is because Killzone 3 contains a file above 4GB in size as many of you will know you cannot put files above 4GB on A fat32 Usb Drive and because the ps3 dose not support ntfs this is the only way to transfer the files besides FTP in a way that multiMAN etc.. can read them.

Tested using 2D rip and multiMAN 1.15.00

1. Download OpenSplit 1.2 You must login or register to view this content.

2. Extract OpenSplit and run OpenSplit v1.2.jar

3. Click Split Big Files To .666xx
You must login or register to view this content.

4. Go to game folder e.g. BCES01007 select open
You must login or register to view this content.

5. It will begin to split the large file into 1 gb parts once at 100% quit OpenSplit
You must login or register to view this content.

6.Go to \BXXX-XXXXX\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\ it should now look like this:
You must login or register to view this content.

7.Copy the BXXX-XXXXX Folder to your GAMEZ Folder on Your External USB Drive.

8. Enjoy

ok this is what i have done:

downloaded 2D copy of killzone 3.
split the psarc file using open split.
moved the folder to external
and tried to play.
black screened after the PS3 move screens.
now i have a question.
once i move the split file folder to my external, can i now REJOIN the files
using the "merge .666xx files to BIG" feature so that it goes BACK to the original psarc file? maybe that will work?

Alright for the people that keep getting a black screen. Heres what I did fix the problem Smile

First of all large folders will be needed to be split up, Soo depending on if you ripped the game from a disk or downloaded it, If you ripped it from a disk (Assuming this is multiman) it would have split big folders in to little psarc files,

eg. data_ps3.ps3.psarc.66600
data_ps3.ps3.psarc.66601

these will be found under..GAMEZ\BCES01007-[Killzone3]\PS3_GAME\USRDIR

If you have downloaded the game, You will need to get OpenSplit V1.2 (google it) then Click "Split big files to .666xx" then navigate to your killzone file and let it run.

After this you will have a list of psarc files in the USRDIR, Alright now copy those files to your computer.

Next you will need to open up OpenSplit V1.2 again and then click on "Merge .666xx to big", then select the folder you placed those folders. The program will now merge all those folders into one big psarc file.

From here you need to download PSARC (google it, was the first link on the list for me) then drag that big psarc file into the folder you have placed PSARC.exe, then literally drag the large psarc file ONTO the PSARC.exe

Ok.. now PSARC will start rambling on about all the shit it is extracting so just let it run its course (may take a while), it will turn that file into a few folders that you will then place back into your portable hdd in the same spot u grabbed them so for me it is GAMEZ\BCES01007-[Killzone3]\PS3_GAME\USRDIR
(if you ripped the game from a disc you can now delete the split up psarc files in that folder.)

then run lv2.pkg, run multiman, enjoy Smile

note* If you have trouble with any of this or i didnt quite explain something right just quote me here or send me a msg Smile
