(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Please post any "theories" on MW2 hacks in this thread. If you are confident enough that your theory is new then you must be willing to check every theory in this thread to make sure you are not just rehashing old info. Please post your theory in the title if at all possible. This will make it easier for people to sort through. Meaning use "Hack with RFOM" as the title instead of "new way to hack" as the title. Hopefully this helps everyone and makes life a lot easier for all involved. Thanks to DesmondS95 for getting my attention on this.

I think that you can decrypt your harddrive after you format it on your PC using a program called siggggggy from easymod =)

The thing is people are saying this theory is wrong and others are saying it is right. I personally dont know what to believe at the moment. We never know there could be more than on method of hacking Modern Warfate 2. Couldnt there?

If it restores to the 3.30 ok it will be fine on 3.40
I updated my ps3 to 3.40 and then formatted and put 3.30 image on the hdd and there wasn't a problem. I think errors arise if the data on the image is messed with. But a full restore should be fine as the 3.40 will asign a checksum to the already modded data

Firmware isnt stored on the PS3 harddrive. It is stored on the PS3 NAND flash memory. Which is not directly accessable. Why do you think we havnt had any custom firmwares.

ROLL TIDE!!!
Yup, what he said.

Basically, if he had 3.30 backup. And tried to put it on a PS3 that had 3.40

The PS3 would "make" you put 3.40 on an USB drive, and have it ready to install.
This is basically security on the PS3. If it was that easy, we could just have fw 1.0 torrent, restore out PS3 with it, and poof, downgrade.

Unfortunatly Sony thought about that and did something about it.

When you do a restore, you have to restore to 'atleast' the fw you had on the PS3 you are restoring to.. Like the example I said before.

Okay here is maybe how to do it... You know how you get that message about new patch and that you need to download it? Why can't we just fake the connection and make it download from pc on local network? It would not be a problem!? So editing patch is a problem?

I think you have miss understood me. It wasn't downgrading the firmware. It was a .bin from a 3.30 that went into the 3.40 ps3. Not firmware just a simple hdd image. If anyone can use the hdd tool and has an image ov 3.30 write to the drive and there will be no errors.
