(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Thought I would start a thread on the universe, a pretty big topic if you stop and think about it.

For example, think of the size. First look at your phone, ipod and anything small, then compare it to the size of your house, what about the the size of your city or the world. It makes it seem tiny, we can see how big our galaxy and our neighbours, we can see just how big that is. Now think our this group of galaxy's and think of it being the size of your phone compared to the world. Then think of that being your phone, it blows your mind, there has to be some other lifeforms out there, or planets almost identical to earth, the thoughts are endless. Tell me what you think Smile

[EDIT] An interesting video I found

I believe the universe is like the earth - it's round and we're inside of it.... on the outside of it is another dimension.

I kinda think like that too, but how big, and how many are there

Its not only the universe that amazes me, the whole human species is amazing. How we function and all.. We're all so lucky if you think about it Smile

Here's one that shows it a little better. [ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17jymDn0W6U]YouTube - The Known Universe by AMNH[/ame]

It's really humbling stuff. Puts into perspective how insignificant we really are.

I believe that it's like the earth. If you go straight, you will end up in the same spot where you started eventually. Thats what I think.

They say every 8 solar systems have a planet in the goldy lock zone (a spot where everything is perfect like earth) and we have quadtrillions of planets. We have life on another planet. Intelligent life is a possibllity but life in general is a 100% certainty.

Tell me you didn't take that from a modest mouse song...haha.

But uh, the exact size of the Universe is unmeasurable. It's either so big that within the current scope of human technology, it will be a long long time before we are able to measure it, or it's infinite, and still expanding more and more beyond that.

As for a shape, the hyperbolic universe makes the most sense based on what I've read, which really isn't much so I guess I can't really answer that. Though has anyone looked into the theory of the multiverse? It seems pretty interesting, though it seems pretty unlikely..

It's funny when you think about. Humans as a whole think highly of themselves. We're an arrogant and proud race. We think we're better than the animals on earth because we can talk. Because we have developed society. Because we have technology. But we're no different from the animals around us. Humans aren't that special at all, we have no impact in the universe. Our entire planet could be wiped of life and there would be absolutely no fallout in the universe. Because in the grand scheme of things, we're nothing.

For all we know, the universe could just be a giant atom, and the galaxies are the protons, neutrons, and electrons. The galaxies are the quarks and the solar systems would be the incomprehensible particles that make up quarks, and the planets would be the incomprehensible particles that make THOSE up, so on and so on. Time and size are subjective, so for all we know, our entire existence could be there and gone in a flash in a larger world. While at the same time, all the atoms around us could be holding similar universes, but smaller. It's daunting to think about, but we really CAN'T know. At least not yet.

The Universe we reside in is an amazing thing, and to think that we have any impact on it is an absurdly arrogant thing to say. We mean nothing to the balance of the Universe.

As I always say; "For such an intelligent species, we act so foolish"
