A 14 year old boy from Russia beat his Dad to death while he was sleeping, after he was banned from playing video games. His keyboard was removed by his parents after he'd been playing on his computer for a week. After seeing what the boy had done, his mother gave him back the keyboard, and he played games for several more hours until he fell asleep. At this point, the mother phoned the police. In Russia, he can be charged for murder, despite his young age.
Yes, it's another 'gaming goes horribly wrong' incident, but you can't deny they're becoming more frequent. What I find the worst is how he CONTINUED to game, even after bludgeoning his own father to death, the mother must've been scared to death.

Wow... I think that when I grow up I will not let my child play games until they're 16 because they'll either become feens with no lives or do this. This makes me think "What if I would do this?" :|
To be honest, if i ever have kid's they WILL not be allowed to watch the television, or play any type of game console for more then an hour a day. This is ridiculous, the human race is getting to the point where i wish i wasn't apart of it.
At first I was like, what a douchbag of a mother! How could she give him his keyboard back??? You made a good point though. After walking in on that grisly scene it probably scared the hell out of her! I couldn't imagine what was going through her mind other than keeping that sledgehammer away from her mind. What a crazy world we live in.
Crazy is the right word. I wonder what's happened to the boy now? I wonder if the mother perma-banned him off his consoles or not..?
Although it may have played a small part in this tragic incident, gaming is not the primary cause of it. Most people react in some way to games, from just complaining to throwing their controller at a wall. Yet, when an accident like this happens, you know that he must have problems, albeit just anger issues or serious mental issues. My sypsthy goes to the mother, as not only has her husband died, but her child is the killer.
You can't blame that fully on gaming, it's how your raised, I can assure you Russia isn't the Nice's place to be, just look at the countries history.
It could have been something else too, perhaps just the way the parents treat him, I'm pretty sure taking away a keyboard doesn't trigger such emotion.
