Thats quite a big stereotype you've got there for children. In most cases like this Gaming isnt the only reason for something like this. Their background often has a lot to do with it. Using the word "children" stereotypes all children as psychotic gaming murderers which isnt true at all. I think the problem is not gaming but parents becoming too lenient with their children. The fact that they allowed him to play it for days before they did anything is ridiculous.
I certainly didn't intend to stereotype, but was simply giving the basic image of a child in the past, compared to some of the children of this time. Though looking at it now, I do notice that it came across in a different manner, in which I do apologize.
Background is, like you said, definitely key when it comes to things like. I think we come to find that the parents who are less lenient, and uphold and enforce rules in their household are the ones that raise well-mannered children, and those that do not are more likely to have a child in which overreacts when something does not go his or her way, though parent leniency does not always have the same effect on all children, as some parents who are very lenient stil have very, very good children.
Thanks for calling me out on that so that I could clarify.
