I apologize for the awful image xD

A 14 year old boy from Russia beat his Dad to death while he was sleeping, after he was banned from playing video games. His keyboard was removed by his parents after he'd been playing on his computer for a week. After seeing what the boy had done, his mother gave him back the keyboard, and he played games for several more hours until he fell asleep. At this point, the mother phoned the police. In Russia, he can be charged for murder, despite his young age.

Yes, it's another 'gaming goes horribly wrong' incident, but you can't deny they're becoming more frequent. What I find the worst is how he CONTINUED to game, even after bludgeoning his own father to death, the mother must've been scared to death.

This is an issue that does need to be addressed in modern day society, something I do think that is becoming more and more frequent, and is an indication that human-reliance on technology has grown far too much, and is quickly becoming a part of children worldwide.

Ten years ago, chances of a child doing something like this was much lower than it is now, because most children weren't glued to their televisions or gaming devices at that time, and were enjoying the outdoors or playing with their action-figures. Certainly there were still some young-children who were fully technology reliant, but all the same it has definitely increased over the last decade.

Though it is likely too late of anything to change, I do think the human race is in need of a moral check, in which we have to realize technology is not the basic unit of survival, though it is becoming the primary source of information keeping and communication.

Lets hope that in the future, parents instill better knowledge into their children, so that in the event of something like this, the parents do not have to worry about their son or daughter attempting to murder them.

Thanks for posting this up, Caspa.

I know that this kid should be punished for this ridiculous and needless murder. But where were the parents before this time? Did they have NO control on his playing habits and behaviors? You have to wonder if they didn't control how much he played, leading to his extreme mental breakdown.

I am not in any way putting sole blame on the parents, but they were aware of his gaming habits. Habits lead to addictions, and the child's addiction to his game led to death.

I'm not surprised the mother gave him his keyboard back,I would be shitting myself aswell if I were her,but she could've at least tried SOMETHING?

I think that kids under 14 should not be allowed to play any games consoles. It would definitely stop this 'stupid child craze' thing, but I doubt this would happen anyway. I feel sorry for the dad, what a way to go :(

Thanks for posting Caspa.

This most certainly would cut down on the annoying F@GG*Ts that play the game that havent hit puberty that make my ears bleed.

But on a serious note sad story for the mom and this kid should be charged for murder in my opinion.

I doubt this is the cause. What would it stop? I started playing half-life back when I was 6. I'm 18 now, and I have nothing wrong with me. It depends on that certain person. You have no clue what this guy was thinking psychologically. Putting a banned for kids under 14 wouldn't stop anything.

I blame the parents they should have limits although i am 15 my dad lets me decide when i go off and on for as many hours that should be. The only bit of anger i get at the most is hitting the controller once or something or addicted to new games so longest i have played is around 2-3 hours on the Godfather when it was released. Then the xbox got the RROD LMAO then i changed to PS3 fully! Smile
