This is an issue that does need to be addressed in modern day society, something I do think that is becoming more and more frequent, and is an indication that human-reliance on technology has grown far too much, and is quickly becoming a part of children worldwide.
Ten years ago, chances of a child doing something like this was much lower than it is now, because most children weren't glued to their televisions or gaming devices at that time, and were enjoying the outdoors or playing with their action-figures. Certainly there were still some young-children who were fully technology reliant, but all the same it has definitely increased over the last decade.
Though it is likely too late of anything to change, I do think the human race is in need of a moral check, in which we have to realize technology is not the basic unit of survival, though it is becoming the primary source of information keeping and communication.
Lets hope that in the future, parents instill better knowledge into their children, so that in the event of something like this, the parents do not have to worry about their son or daughter attempting to murder them.
Thanks for posting this up, Caspa.
