OKAY
Let me shed some light for Some People. This is only to test the current hack out.
NO YOU SHOULDN"T HAVE TO BUY ONE
Okay the current issue right now is that other then doing this, there is no other way to get Homebrew on nonejailbroken PS3, even if you could sign them. However CFW means we can. By Editing an OFW and adding option found in jailbroken console, then signing it the PS3 should be able to read it as if it were an OFW. So this means we will need a CFW if you want this to work on your console considering the PS3 in normal state has no way of reading PKG files if you just stick a USB in (unless JB/Downgrade).
I am not 100% sure, but i have a pretty good feeling that how it will end up being.
Some hackers have been tweeting that they got CFW, but during installation it seems to have failed on them.
So;
Jailbreak FW or Debug FW + Official Firmware + FailOverFlow Keys = Readable CFW
any body remember when PSP was that easy? Just put in a CFW and its read it just fine.
Also Downgrading is absolutely pointless now.
I see no reason to do it, considering that the first CFW or what ever failoverflow is planning on releasing plans to get Linux back on consoles. As prior to that, this is pretty much the new jailbreak, so everything you could do on jailbreak before 3.55 you should be able to do it once this hack releases.
