(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); OK since geohot released his hello world I have seen a few questions on how to get into service mode on a 3.55 PS3 and one post that has the wrong tutorial on how to do it.

This tutorial will show you how to get into service mode and out of it on a 3.55 PS3.

This will work with any dongle that allows PS3 downgrading.

Step 1:Insert dongle that has been programmed with the downgrade software into your PS3.

Step 2:Turn on the console using the same boot method as all other jailbreaks: Press power then immediately press eject. Your console will turn on wait a moment.

Step 3: Remove dongle and turn on console and you are in Factory/Service Mode. You will see a huge red box on the screen saying Factory/Service Mode.

Step 4: Now you can do geohots hello world.

Step 5: Now to get out of service mode downlod this file:You must login or register to view this content.

Step 6: Put that file in the root of a usb and insert USB flash drive into the last USB port to the right and power on your PS3. After 10 seconds it will power off.



Remove USB flash drive and turn on your console again. You will be out of Factory/Service mode and back in retail mode

EDIT: WHEN I SAY DONGLE I ALSO MEAN ANY DEVICE THAT ALLOWS DOWNGRADING THIS INCLUDES PORTS FOR PSGRADE ETC.

You need a dongle that allows downgrading or a device that can run PSgrade.

I am just trying to help here not sure if all of you know this some prob. do anyhow there was a issue with the blueray breaking on the older systems (If you dont believe me look on web) this was on the fat PS3 there is a list with the model # on it check it out before you decide to go putting it in service mode. trust me it wont make you happy if the system can't read your blueray disk anymore. Play it smart do alot of checking before you make these changes please dont flame me I'm just trying to help (do what you want)!!!!!!!! Its your PS3 Thankfully I have my two one jb and one current I will stick with the data transfers Good luck too all working hard at this!......

I've been told you can sign into PSN in service mode... Can you? And can you play game disks?

2-when you have service mode what extra features does it let you have?

well, what was this thread about? it doesnt have anything to download for a downgrade, just something on how to get a ps3 OUT OF SERVICE MODE. am i missing something?
