(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); OK since geohot released his hello world I have seen a few questions on how to get into service mode on a 3.55 PS3 and one post that has the wrong tutorial on how to do it.

This tutorial will show you how to get into service mode and out of it on a 3.55 PS3.

This will work with any dongle that allows PS3 downgrading.

Step 1:Insert dongle that has been programmed with the downgrade software into your PS3.

Step 2:Turn on the console using the same boot method as all other jailbreaks: Press power then immediately press eject. Your console will turn on wait a moment.

Step 3: Remove dongle and turn on console and you are in Factory/Service Mode. You will see a huge red box on the screen saying Factory/Service Mode.

Step 4: Now you can do geohots hello world.

Step 5: Now to get out of service mode downlod this file:You must login or register to view this content.

Step 6: Put that file in the root of a usb and insert USB flash drive into the last USB port to the right and power on your PS3. After 10 seconds it will power off.



Remove USB flash drive and turn on your console again. You will be out of Factory/Service mode and back in retail mode

EDIT: WHEN I SAY DONGLE I ALSO MEAN ANY DEVICE THAT ALLOWS DOWNGRADING THIS INCLUDES PORTS FOR PSGRADE ETC.

This is a good catch. Will the PS3 turn off automatically after step 2? or do we actually have to turn it off manually?

Since there's no video explaining the process I think we should clarify this for the benefit of the community.

Why is jailbreak talk still going around? We will NOT need jailbreak once the FTP server is signed in the next one or two days...

When you open the usb stick on your computer, you are in the root directory. No folders or anything open.

what is the point in getting into service mode?

well, whats the program we need to put it in service mode? this only has the one to get it OUT of service mode. Help Please!?

This is good, but people without JB downgrade devices will have to wait see if anything else develops.

What you can do then if you are in service mode? With that hello world? Will yoy be able to download the FTP then?
