So we all know how EA & Activision have been butting heads to be the best first-person shooter out there. But did you know that EA is putting $100 million into making Battlefield 3 better than the Call of Duty franchise?

According to the You must login or register to view this content., EA CEO John Riccitiello announced this investment in New York. He said that it will positively beat down the HIGHLY anticipated Modern Warfare 3. If they're putting this much money into topping one of the best first-person shooters of all time, let's hope it's worth it.

In my opinion, I think a game that took over $100 million to make should be worth it. I mean, a lot of people love Battlefield, but even more people love Call of Duty. So it's going to be a tough match for EA.

I would have gto say battlefield 3 only because it a great team based game and always having some one online to play with and just gaming with your friends is always funner then on COD because in all reality you all end up doing your own thing.

I believe that with the release of BF3 that EA might actually be on par with the new CoD sales-wise. Battlefield is a big name and is a massive competitor to CoD simple for the difference in gameplay (CoD is more fast paced and BF is more tactical and skillfull) for me i love both these franchise and will get both but i'm more hyped about BF3 than i am with CoD MW3 simply because i know that the CoD game will be a lot similar gameplay to that of the others with maybe a few different perks but nothing entirely new.

With BF3 theres a lot more to look forward too, an updated engine (or claimed to be) more weapons and vehicles than BFBC2 ontop of the ability to prone and the more realisticness of the game over CoD. I also love the fact that to be good at BF you actually need skill whereas CoD you need luck. the maps on BF are huge so no ridiculous throwing knife kills from the other side of the map and n00b tubes are pretty shite on BF, whereas CoD you do well just running Spraying and praying you kill your opposition or can "Drop Shot" or melee from 1 mile away.

I like how BF3 incorporates the same awesomeness as BFBC2 in the way that your "killstreaks" are littered around the map at certain strategic points. that anyone can get ahold of, whereas on CoD you get a killstreak like a chopper gunner and you pretty much own the game your playing (of course this is hell fun but if someone is doing it to you.....not so fun).

i'm going to assume BF3 will be like BFBC2 by where the game itself is completely balanced and fair yet CoD games seem to have not managed to get that balance yet (every CoD game has had weapons that everyone uses like UMP45 or perks that are ridiculously good that unbalance the game E.G Juggernaught).

I agree with you they always come up with the same sh*t but with better graphics (same engine since cod4)and i am getting tired of it.

Give the money to me instead of using it for battlefield 3 :carling:

I was a big battlefield fan but I like more fast paced games like COD now. The last battlefield i really liked was 2142.

They will never beat COD. It just the way COD feels when you play it that makes it beat all the other FPS out there.

I'm going right off first person shooters due to the fact that theres far to many these days.
of course that doesnt mean I'll stop playing fps's

but considering EA and DICE are putting so much into this game I will most likely end my fps collection with the next biggest shooter of all time:420:

I really dont get why ppl hated BF games, I mean I've heard folk complaining about all the campers but if they were smart enough they'd know that blowing the walls off a building would solve that problem.

sure BF campain sucked but most play these games for the multiplayer the problem is this.
COD is being milked and most ppl can't see it, think about it..
5th game in the series now (since cod4) and what have they really added since then?...
not much right? maybe some camouflage, different guns, levels, the kind of things that "could" be added by DLC.

Dice have all ready said BF3 will have all guns from BFBC2 as well as new guns, Prone (finally), new destruction system's and probably much more.
(something I never thought they could improve on lol)
