Post: My View On Religion

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Here's a good few points that I can think of right now as to why religion is a made up thing.

-There's millions (it seems like) of religions, how does one know they're in the "right" one?
If you were raised in a different country it's likely you would never even think about being the religion you are now. So what makes you think the one you're in is the "right" one? Everyone feels they're in the right one, if not they would switch and be a different religion.

-Prove it. I know you can't! It's just about faith and you believing in it. So if you believe in the flying spaghetti monster will it be real too? No.
There's more that proves religion is fabricated than proof that god is real.

I see religion as a thing to comfort people and make them think they're doing right and they have a purpose.

Feel free to post your arguments below Smile

Are you high?
That's the thing, its called faith because you have to have FAITH. Yeah there may be no real way to prove that a certain religion but to be a follower of the certain religion you just have to believe that it is right and true. Also a lot of religions are closely related to each other even though they may be totally different religions like christianity and judaism.

Why? Do you have a reason for believing in a supernatural god as i'm assuming is what you're meaning by "something"

Whether or not God is "real" is irrelevant. People can believe in whatever they want as long as they still retain a clear mind and can exist in society and obey its laws. If someone wants to believe that there is a powerful being that created all of this, they should...because frankly not even science can explain the existence of "reality" as we know it. With that being said, don't tell me my wife shouldn't have an abortion or that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry because of your religion. Keep it to yourself and if you truly believe that God will reward you for faith, feel free to have faith in anything you want.

I highly agree with that. I am sick of them trying to get involved in making laws for their religion. It's really quite annoying. It's also annoying that there's a church that is exempted from the laws of a Hallucinogenic drug because "it brings them closer to god". I'm not sure what church it was but if anyone is interested i'll look it up in the book i'm currently reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins

grammar phaggot*

I would rather have faith in something. And even after we die if there is something there then so be it if not then oh well. And by "something" I was not referring to a supernatural god. I was referring to let's say a place where we go after we die. Or even I would not call it reincarnation but erm let's say re-spawning. It's just you don't remember you were here ever before and you start a whole new life. Have you ever gone some pace and felt like a weird feeling you have been here once before but you haven't? Kinda strange with all that stuff. But whatever happens will happen I suppose. :p

Religion was created by man to keep people in line. Several early civilizations used it as a back up authority at times. For example, the Romans had a state religion. You were forced to believe in that very religion and follow the rules set in front of you by that religion. Failing to do so would result in a penalty by the emperor.

I don't see how religion is used to comfort, because it scares the hell out of me. I don't feel like religion gives me a purpose. I give myself purpose to strive in life and become better. Religion can't do that for me, because it's just a bunch of stories and laws.

Think about it, all these religious/holy books were written by man. People aren't perfect, we make mistakes! Nobody is perfect. Therefore anything we read about a religion could be tainted with incorrect information.

I believe in a higher being. Whether thats god, allah, or the flying spaghetti monster, I believe in one of some sort. I believe whatever higher being it is, they are smart, and think things through much more than us. They wouldn't send someone to "hell" for not being exposed to jesus, or being raised by non-christians. Now, I feel if you act christianly, its good enough for god. If you seek forgiveness, and are a generally nice guy, theres no reason hed strike you down.

RIP PICHU.
Honestly, I don't believe in anything but I thought religion was supposed to be about unity rather than fighting, if all religions got together, including atheist and came to a common conclusion with science, I bet something could be figured out over some years that would appeal to both sides.

--Highly unlikely, but I bet if the chance was given.. :/
