Post: My View On Religion

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Here's a good few points that I can think of right now as to why religion is a made up thing.

-There's millions (it seems like) of religions, how does one know they're in the "right" one?
If you were raised in a different country it's likely you would never even think about being the religion you are now. So what makes you think the one you're in is the "right" one? Everyone feels they're in the right one, if not they would switch and be a different religion.

-Prove it. I know you can't! It's just about faith and you believing in it. So if you believe in the flying spaghetti monster will it be real too? No.
There's more that proves religion is fabricated than proof that god is real.

I see religion as a thing to comfort people and make them think they're doing right and they have a purpose.

Feel free to post your arguments below Smile

1 pair of hands at work will do more than 1,000,000,000 pairs of hands clasped in prayer

Everything Quran said was totally true and when Prophet Muhammad came and spread the Islam ,he mentions about there is a God in this world and God created everything in the universe and the Judgement day whether you go to heaven or hell .

I can't tell if you are being serious but from the rest of your post I assume you are. You have evidence proving Islam to be the correct religion? I find that very difficult to believe. I don't mean to insult your religion; I couldn't care less but I don't think you have any evidence proving this. All you've done is say that the things said in Quran are all true but you haven't actually proven anything. If you do have actual evidence please post it, link me etc. I would actually be really interested in this.

Personally, I don't know what to think about religion. Being a Christian; I know they have a tough time in particular when it comes to understanding Science generally and are really big on "miracles". There are some Christians today who still refuse medical care because they think God providing for them will be bright, sparkly and magical, not a hospital room. I wouldn't say that it's the people who believe that stuff's fault completely because the people who taught them that are also to blame. I use this example because I think that there are too many people whose teachings emphasize the wrong things and as a result people believe stupid things. One of the biggest things is teaching people that by being preachy you are actually saving people. Being preachy saves no one; if your religion is in fact the right one, being preachy will probably just drive people away. To put it as concisely and simply as I can: I believe in the teachings of Christianity and the Bible but not the religion and what it has become.

Well I am a Christian, more specifically, a Baptist. As a Baptist, I believe that God delivered His son, Jesus Christ, to lay his life upon the cross and to die for your sins. He was without sin; however, he had to pay for the evil and sin of man. When Jesus died, he gave us all a second chance. Now, we don't have to perish in the fiery inferno of Hell. By giving our hearts and mind and soul to our Lord, we trade a life of sinning and evil for a life of living for God. This is called Salvation. Living for God, means to give up temptations of mere men. Live by the Holy Bible and for the Holy Bible! It may seem like a big science fiction story but it's real. When you feel God speaking to your heart, you will finally understand the truth. I used reject religion. But then I moved to a very religious community and my eyes were opened. If any of you have a chance to go on a Youth Church Camp, do not avoid it. Please go and give it a chance. It will change your life. It changed mine.

It had to start from something.

Why? What about a possibility of always existing?

Sure, evolution can characterize how life evolved, but where did the initial cells come from?

1. That's not evolution's problem, evolution only deals with after life begins
2. Abiogenesis is currently a well thought theory

Science says you can't make something from nothing, so who made that something?

How about it always existing?

I believe God did.

Fine, who made God? Who/What the hell is God? So the only answer to a complex universe is a more complex deity?

The universe, the origin of it, the origin of life; it's all his creation. I can't give proof, but you can't prove me wrong either.

The rainbows, the rain, the origin of green; it's all leprechauns' creation. I can't give proof, but you can't prove me wrong either. <-Sounds a little psychotic doesn't it?

Religion has been around for 30,000 years. What else do you know of that's lasted this long?

Really? Longevity determines truth now? If that were true the pagans would have had it right.

Oh, so we have something that completely disregards the rules prior... ok

To us, the notion of time is linear. One second follows the next, one minute is after another. We get older, not younger and we cannot repeat the minutes that have passed us by. We have all seen the time lines on charts: early time is on the left and later time is on the right. We see nations, people's lives, and plans mapped out on straight lines from left to right. We see a beginning and an end. But God is "beyond the chart." He has no beginning or end. He simply has always been.

Do you have any proof of this? The more and more you describe God the more and more fallible your argument becomes.

If I say I have a house, it's easy to accept for being a simple concept. My house is purple, a little more difficult because now your reaching out of the norm. My house has 5 stories, more and more out of the norm. My house glows in the dark... My point being that saying there is a God is another thing from going to describe Him/Her/It with no basis whatsoever

Physics has shown that time is a property that is the result of the existence of matter. Time exists when matter exists. Time has even been called the fourth dimension. But God is not matter. In fact, God created matter. He created the universe. So, time began when God created the universe. Before that, God was simply existing and time had no meaning (except conceptually), no relation to Him. Therefore, to ask where God came from is to ask a question that cannot really be applied to God in the first place. Because time has no meaning with God in relation to who He is, eternity is also not something that can be absolutely related to God. God is even beyond eternity.

How can you believe in something like this without evidence? If I tell you I have a fire breathing 50 foot cat would you believe me, because you can't prove I don't?

People only take these ridiculous claims when dealing with religion for a couple reasons:
1. You have been taught/shown this all your life at a young age
2. You may have been brought up it
3. You are looking for something to maybe bring you up

Yeah, ex-christian here. I also find it ironic only after being surrounded by a group do you decide to become part of that group.

But why are you Catholic?

What if you where raised in Classical Greece? What if you where raised in Central Africa? Maybe, Denmark during the Viking Era?

Would you still be a Catholic? What is it about your religion that makes the others wrong?

What is it that makes your religion correct?

I am not what you call a holly roller so I am not going to throw bible quotes at you. But I have my reasons why I believe my religion is correct but I believe pretty much any Christian religion is correct. But of course unlike others I believe birth control is wrong and that you should save yourself for partner in marriage and your love ie sex should be "pure"
