Post: My View On Religion

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Here's a good few points that I can think of right now as to why religion is a made up thing.

-There's millions (it seems like) of religions, how does one know they're in the "right" one?
If you were raised in a different country it's likely you would never even think about being the religion you are now. So what makes you think the one you're in is the "right" one? Everyone feels they're in the right one, if not they would switch and be a different religion.

-Prove it. I know you can't! It's just about faith and you believing in it. So if you believe in the flying spaghetti monster will it be real too? No.
There's more that proves religion is fabricated than proof that god is real.

I see religion as a thing to comfort people and make them think they're doing right and they have a purpose.

Feel free to post your arguments below Smile

I don't follow religion because it just doesn't make sense to me. Why should I change myself for something that may or may not be there? I'd rather just live my life however I want and do whatever I want. YOLO Cool Man (aka Tustin)

There may be a God. I just don't believe that our ideas on him fit our description. I don't know, religion is confusing to me. You're better off believing in something then nothing Smile

As you stated, there really is no official proof of a God or a heaven. But being able to believe that there is a nicer place waiting for you after your death is always comforting. This is a pretty tough topic to debate and can get touchy at times but it is an interesting one.

I always question whether there really is a God or not but no matter how much I question I still believe in one. Again, it's that sense of comfort that keeps me going. Smile

Well I always thought that God's feet were too big to fit in one religion's shoes :p

No matter what Science can hypothesize, Science will never be able to explain what everything came from. It had to start from something. Sure, evolution can characterize how life evolved, but where did the initial cells come from? Science says you can't make something from nothing, so who made that something? I believe God did. The universe, the origin of it, the origin of life; it's all his creation. I can't give proof, but you can't prove me wrong either.

Religion has been around for 30,000 years. What else do you know of that's lasted this long?

Religion, Christianity at least confuses me, the Bible teaches us to love on another in parts of the Bible while in others there's a bloody battle between Christianity and another religion. When I was young, I used to think religion unites everyone, Muslims and Christians love other, that's what I used to think, now all you hear on the news is a war in Palestine over the land, two religions colliding Islam and Judaism. A French man goes into a Jewish school and starts firing, heck, even World War 2 was targeted at a religion!

God didn't come from anything, for God has always existed. He wouldn't be God if he was created.

To us, the notion of time is linear. One second follows the next, one minute is after another. We get older, not younger and we cannot repeat the minutes that have passed us by. We have all seen the time lines on charts: early time is on the left and later time is on the right. We see nations, people's lives, and plans mapped out on straight lines from left to right. We see a beginning and an end. But God is "beyond the chart." He has no beginning or end. He simply has always been.

Physics has shown that time is a property that is the result of the existence of matter. Time exists when matter exists. Time has even been called the fourth dimension. But God is not matter. In fact, God created matter. He created the universe. So, time began when God created the universe. Before that, God was simply existing and time had no meaning (except conceptually), no relation to Him. Therefore, to ask where God came from is to ask a question that cannot really be applied to God in the first place. Because time has no meaning with God in relation to who He is, eternity is also not something that can be absolutely related to God. God is even beyond eternity.

Worth the Weight
We don't understand God. We portray "God" in many different ways. To me it's only logical that a God exists. It wouldn't make sense to come from nothing. To me it's really as simple as that. Religion is a great way to make people comfortable, but it's when we start to express it and get into arguments things get all jumbled and everyone hates each other.

Prayer gives me the peace of mind that I want. It's usually comforting and it's nice to have someone to talk to when you're in need.

But other than that, I can say that some bible passages to me seem very far fetched and I doubt how they could actually take place. I find myself someone who needs both science and religion in my life. I believe everything that science has been able to prove, but I also believe the concept that religion explains it in. (It's really hard to explain, I don't quite understand why I think like this but it's just the way I am)

Eg. How the earth was formed: I believe that the earth was created from the big bang, and not that God just popped it there and started to make it in seven days. He is more like the delicate hands of a sculptor which sculpted a universe, and let it do it's thing. He guided it when it needed to be guided and did add some of his own creations to it. (First life forms, humans etc.) - (Sorry Evolution hasn't actually been proved fully)

I just thought I would put out what I feel about this world.

TLAwesome faceR Version:

I believe in both science and religion, and they are both responsible for the creation of the universe.
