(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Seeing as there's a thread for the US Democrat & Republican parties... I thought it would be a good idea to make a politics related thread for here in the UK. I thought having 1 thread would increase the debates and discussion.

So yeah, talk about it here. Smile

If you don't know much about UK politics, we currently have a coalition government between the Tories & the Lib Dems (Tories didn't get the majority of votes). The four main parties are:

Conservatives - British Conservatism, British Unionism, Eurosceptism -You must login or register to view this content.

Labour - Democratic Socialism, Support the working class -You must login or register to view this content.

Liberal Democrat - Social & Green Liberalism, Internationalism, Social Democracy, Left Libertarianism -You must login or register to view this content.

UKIP - Eurosceptism, Libertarianism, Traditional Conservatism - You must login or register to view this content.

There's also parties such as BNP who are right wing, BNP in particular are very anti-immigration, SNP & Plaid Cymru who focus on independence for their constituent countries, as well as other parties such as the Green party who support British Republicanism

I really hope Cameron and the Tories sort themselves out, I think they're doing a decent job in fairness but they are losing lots of votes to UKIP, and maybe even MPs. The question at the moment is, will Nadine Dorries defect to UKIP?

All showing a major benefit to the overall economoy. On the lower end the effect on wages is minor to no impact. Abuse does happen but overall benefit abuse it little to nothing when you compared the whole budget. Tax avoidance out weights all the abuse in the benefit system by quite a big factor.
Immigration pays for the welfare state, if Britain shut it doors it would have a 187 GDP debt ratio by 2050. I can't be arsed finding the study for this but You must login or register to view this content.

That the facts on what immigrants do for Britain.
Now to fact check your numbers Smile

2 million settled in the UK not the 4million. Was a outflow of 2 million odd from the UK which goes to show is another story.
Sure is a better chart to show that off.
House office believes is 300,000 illegals in the UK.

Must be noted that it okay to say close the door, but it a two way process during that time loads of brits moved to other parts of the world. So if you want to tone down immigration you must be willing to tone down emigration. So if you're against immigration you must be against emigration and want to put a cap on that too ?

We should work on integration in some areas it works in others little to nothing was done to help it.
A case to close the door ? No it a case to learn from a policy which helped the UK yes. A second language should be standard in all UK schools along with learning each other languages.
We should learn other peoples cultures and respect them, same back at them. Community cohesion is something else that needs looking at.

NHS is suffering from cuts to it services which why waiting times are increasing. At the same time we having a change in terms of demographics of the UK. Getting older the result services are being strained we try to cope with the baby boomers turning grey. Studies I posted show that immigrants helps pay for the older population to be looked after. If you don't do that you would need to A increase taxes on the young britains in this nation or B cut services.

Immigrants wages no effect, look at the studies I posted.

School places this due to a cut back in services caused by a stupid policy of austerity. Part of it due to lack of investment which is crippling the UK long term. Yea lack of investment in a couple key areas is a weak point of the UK economy.

Prisons are overfull due to policies which have failed. For generations we have tried lock them don't bother. The result high prison numbers with reoffending rates 70% +.
More prisons won't stop this we had this policy for far too long it does not work.
So what needs to happen ?
Retrain criminals job offers support outside etc

Romanians crime numbers are shocking but you can't paint all Romanians with the same bush. I understand it easy to say that but a larage number have done no wrong. On top of that the numbers does not say how many go to court.
Peterborough need to see if I can find that story.

Norway has some of the lowest reoffending rates in the world. Critics call it 'cushy' and 'luxurious' but it a success. Lets try something that works instead of more prisons.

Infrastructure is caused by under funding which is decades old problem we made some massive changes to the supply side but we need demand changes. Part of the reason why we have a growing debt, growth is standing still. Captial spending on investment is badly needed in the tune of 150Bn right now maybe more per year.
Captial spending should never been cut by any goverment.

Cyprus is a special case, for starters it has a large amount of foreign deposits within it banks. Most come from Russian accounts, Cyprus should never been allowed to happen. What I mean by that never should turned into the sideshow caused by Cyprus trying to get a better deal.

Europe current course is very destructive indeed. Germany should increase it own wages, along with support Eurobonds, at the same time a project of massive capital investment across the EU should be started. If you want to keep the euro together in it current form if not split the euro up so that exchange rates are balanced again.
Current problem is caused by Germany being too strong rest of euro being uncompetitive due to having the same exchange rates as Germany.
If you cut up the Euro have a set of exchange rates with certain blocks grouped together, Germany along with some of the richer nations should begin programs of investment in these nations.
This what happens when you have a monetary system without a political union, along with a fiscal union.
More liberal nations of the union should bond together to help fix it problems right now nobody is taking the lead apart from Germany who is unsure what to do. We should help fix the problems not run away from it.
Do think the whole thing should be more simple along with transparency when it comes to how the union works.

One more thing the banks need to be fixed right now we have zombie banks.

If you don't support immigration and want caps, do you support emigration or want caps on emigration?

Cameron has setup the Tories into a one big pickle.
He failed on a number of tests, he failed to understand the effects of some of his reforms which have done serious damage. Problem he carried on saying "It working guys it working" he should have come out and said "I was wrong on the debt crisis cutting captial spending, student numbers was a mistake"
Cameron needs to be clear with the Tories what he wants to do with the Lib dems. He also needs to move the party to the centre with progression policies.
You can't be UKIP by trying to be more like UKIP. Tories should put forward measures like full transparency for the public service along with decreasing business rates on smaller businesses. Time for the Tories to grow a backbone against UKIP.
Nadine Dorries won't move over to UKIP.

I did read one story saying that UKIP was thinking of buying policies from right wing think tanks.

Let's be honest, the majority of these proposals are awful, and at least a few of them are utterly deplorable.

Makes you wonder why the conservative party is worried. Rose tinted glasses with nostalgia in the back seat of the car.

The house of Commons is currently voting on the equal marriage bill tonight.
Looks like it's going to be defeated, meaning gay marriage is going to get passed sooner over later.
This process is way takes too long :p

Lord Howe has stated David Cameron no longer has control of the party. A couple other senior Tories have said the same thing.
He was the one able to bring down Margaret Thatcher.

One polling is saying voters think the party is divided. Not a good set of weeks so far. Rumours of who is likely to take over the leadership with Gove/Boris being front runners.
