(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); ok so I had this old phat ps3 for a while turned it on everything worked great. except the bluray drive. but anyways I went and got it downgraded and jailbroken and cfw installed with online psn access. now I noticed I can install any pkg. in fact the dude installed a fan mod app on the ps3 and got it to work, anyways I get home I try to onstall enstones console manager pkg on the ps3 and it stays black. I have to power down the ps3 cause it freezes. now this maybe cause I took the ps3 apart how im supposed to and tried to see if there was a disc on the blu ray drive since it was indicating there was a disc but it wasn't ejecting. no disc so I pit everythkng back how it was. what can this be? I want to be able to download games on the ps3 and apps, but like I said I tried multimn and the consoe manager and it went black. any help would be appreciated.

I can install the apps but when I click on them screen goes black, im on the latest habib.

edit* im confused. so which one do I install? ->Rebug 4.46 Patched To Run Homebrew Without BD Drive or ->File-Upload.net - NEW-REBUG.PUP

or install both like -> Rebug 4.46 Patched To Run Homebrew Without BD Drive. Then ->File-Upload.net - NEW-REBUG.PUP?

sorry I just don't wanna mess it up.

This, just this -> You must login or register to view this content. just install that and nothing else after it.
MD5 = B8BEB2A23A3C808FD35C4A3267DB4EA7
Check the PUP file's MD5 to verify that you've fully downloaded it & it's correct if you want to be sure. like here below shown i have just done↯ You must login or register to view this content.

Hmm. :\
Have you got a spare HDD (2.5" sata hard drive)? Or if you don't mind losing the data on the ps3 hard drive, if you can take out the ps3 hard drive, connect it to your PC & format it. Then after drive's formatted insert back into the ps3. should allow you bypass the loop & get into recovery menu, if i'm not mistaken.

laptop.. oohh. So not PC with x2 Hard Drive Bays... Hmm k, i've read before in a psx-scene that someone used his laptop's internal hard drive, unscrewed/took it out (laptop off & unplugged btw).

And put in ps3, attempt recovery mode/menu. And in recovery menu, it's important please read carefully as i don't want you to format your laptop's HDD.. Edit: Also Don't/ DO NOT turn off PS3.

Once you're successfully in/see recovery mode options, don't choose any options just yet (don't touch the controller), now take out the laptop HDD, & original PS3 hard drive screwed back in tray & into your PS3 back again... lil blue screw tightened & usb stick in & option 6. install.

Leme know man, i'm not giving up on you.

But for now, sorry i have to go to sleep as it's 2:45am where i am.. I'll reply tomorrow morning if you still inneed of help

Goodnight for now

I was able to get into recovery mode by the instructions you gave me. pressed the home button optio 6 and install but it asked me by hdd needs to be reformatted,so I selected select and start which it asked me to reformat, and its stuck at 99 percent. doesn't go any further. im going to sleep and see if in the morning itll change, thanks for the help.

99% ugh i see... Installing that rebug 4.21 threw you back quite few steps. :\ regret linking you Derrek's thread & not mentioning to you not to install rebug 4.21.. =Z *sigh* didn't think you would tbh. Thought you would do the convert process on that no-BD drive patched rebug 4.46 CFW i advised you to install... Oh well, can't change the past.

Anyway... If still after all these hours it's unfortunately still stuck on 99%, then turn off ps3 & attempt this:

I had the same problem but I fixed it (You must login or register to view this content.). You can also fix it by taking out the HDD before the update begins, it will show you an error code at around 20%, it will start a countdown, wait for that to finish (leave the HDD out).

The PS3 will "restart" and ask you if you want to restart the PS3 or install the firmware on a USB by pressing "Select + Start" (make sure you have the update file in the right directory on the USB and it's plugged in first). Put your HDD back in and press "Select + Start", you can either try installing a CFW that doesn't check for a BD drive* [s]or cancel it so you can get kicked back to the XMB.[/s]

Researched/google'd quite a lot & found this also fix/method trick may work -> You must login or register to view this content. but a second new fresh/0 filled/fully formatted HDD is needed i think.

..But for now attempt & try above guide HeyManHRU i've quoted.
if 99% again, replace the current PS3UPDAT.PUP cfw that on your usb instead with this below

Try to install each CFW above twice before you try the next one (as sometimes in rare occasions 2nd time installation works somehow). And hopefully one of the above has a check patch for 99% stage and will work/install fully 100%.

And Important if once one of the above firmwares works (100% installs/completes & you are in XMB) stop then where you're at & DONT install any of the rest/cfws.

Let me know then.

==========
If none above PUPs work then i'm sorry, but you'll just have to simply buy a replacement ribbon cable for the bluray drive from ebay i suggest, Edit: OR if you can borrow from a friends ps3 temporarily?? (borrow & use his/her bluray drive + it's flat ribbon cable & the 3" grew/black power cable).. just as because you're making it difficult for your[s]self[/s] PS3

Worst case scenario i'm guessing without blu-ray ribbon cable & if none of the above CFWs install/work.. Then well i think you'll have maybe to get/buy an E3 card reader & via lv2 + FSM (factory service mode) reinstall 3.55 OFW while with bluray drive fully connected, or else get stuck in loop all over again. But i'm not 100% sure about the e3 reader & FSM if it that'll make any difference for you to be honest. If i mean installing firmware from FSM is better than installing via from recovery menu. If one's really better than the other. Idk
