So what I'm guessing is that you can't just fake the firmware version to update your PS3, something else has to be involved in the PS3's update. If anyone knows how to get past that error maybe we would be able to get 3.41 as a firmware above 3.50 :confused:

did you try to update the PS3 in safemode ?

While ps3 is on standby (red led) Hold power button until it turns on and off again then hold until you hear two beeps and let go.

I did the same thing in a thread called PUP Hack...

Thats a good idea. Using the cracked firmware, try to update it with Safe Mode (Hold power button for 2 secs while the red LED is on until you hear two beeps) - See if the same error persists.
