(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So anyways... I was messing around with the 3.41 firmware file and finally got the PS3 to detect my 3.41 firmware file as a 3.51

So what I'm guessing is that you can't just fake the firmware version to update your PS3, something else has to be involved in the PS3's update. If anyone knows how to get past that error maybe we would be able to get 3.41 as a firmware above 3.50

the firmware updates for ps3 need electronic signature so heres and idea try and find the signature for 3.50 firmware and take out the old 3.41 signature then this might work...so i think for every fw update there is a new signature that is on the fw/required so by copying the 3.50 sig you could possibly make this work by tricking it totally?

just a guess

I probably wont be any help, but worth a shot.

What does the error code mean?

Ive seen some people have it when regulary updating... So if we could some way use how they fixed it, to fix this.

BTW. Just read the update. What if it wouldnt let you because it was a duplicate signature (I have no experience in this area so my word probably means nothing). What if a new signiture was made?

thats why you take the 3.41 signature out and paste the 3.50 in somehow...but i dont even know what the sig looks like in the fw update so i wouldnt be the one to know! sorry

I googled the error. According to several forum posts on other sites, they are saying it has to do with either the connection or somthing to do with the usb stick. But I would also like to say nice try on trying to trick the system. Let's hope we can figure this out.

Somehow possibly editing the signature in hex editor? Or are you using another program?

-To answer most of the questions so far... My PS3's internet is off to make sure it's not making contact with sony.
-I used a Hex Editor and compared the 3.41, 3.42, and 3.50 firmware files.
-I'd rather not tell how I did this, because if I eventually get this to work, then someone else might also figure out how to do this, release it, then hacking chaos. Although I can say that it's not that hard to tricking the PS3 it's a 3.51 file.

Also, while looking into the file, I also found the "files" for an OS Package, dev_flash3, dev_flash0 and such in the firmware file. You can try and Ctrl + F those things. I might upload a pic of how they look like and where they are located though.
