This September, Sony will launch a new program called ‘PSN Pass’–available only, “in countries that have PlayStation Store”. Games that come with PSN Pass will include a registration code that is good for one-time use to enable online play. The first game to make use of PSN Pass program appears to be Resistance 3 (see image above, from Konsolentreff). Obviously, you will have to purchase a new PSN Pass registration code for used games that carries the PSN Pass emblem. Gaming site IGN contacted SCEA for clarification and this is the response:

We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities.
This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title.

This is an important initiative as it allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio.

Ever heard of that you can buy games over the store?
I am not defending this idea, but you are taking it miserably wrong.

Yeah but it won't stop gameshare, it may prevent it slightly because people don't want to buy an online pass. And yes I do realize it's only if you buy used, but like I said in y previous post, that is mostly what I buy.

What's new about this? EA have been using this for ages, Dead Space 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 are prime examples.

All there doing is preventing people from buying the game in the "BARGAIN BIN" and playing online, the only problem I have with this is you don't know how many times a game has been bought and sold back to say "Game Stop" so surely they have made there money two and three times over to be charging to access online play. I guess this is SONY'S way of helping Developers sell games on release day or for people not to buy them used.

If anyone can't waste or can't spare lets say 100 bucks a month for your own personal entertainment. Than you obviously have bigger problems of your own.
