You talkin to me?
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Problem
This fix is for those that get "Server Unavailable" on all their accounts,
Primary, Secondary & brand new accounts, while playing legit copies of blops 2 on OFW.

The Reason

  • Blops 2 is checking for improperly signed Software & possibly patches that don't match their sha1 hash
  • This appears to be what was blocking me from the servers & giving me a cooldown period of 48-72 hours before I could next download the hotfix for 5 minutes before endless "Server Unavailable"

The Fix

  1. (Tested) Simply put in a blank HDD/ Format your HDD
  2. (Tested) You must delete all homebrew & possibly modified patches

Notes

  • You will probably need to wait until the end of your latest ban/cooldown (I had to wait 2 days)
  • You must login or register to view this content. may work for those of you playing backups, though I don't recommend it due to console bans etc.
  • Your Primary Account might never get back online.
  • Regarding Fix #2: You may only need to delete homebrew installed on the XMB (Multiman, Awesome File Manager, Blackbox FTP etc etc)

Status : I'm Still Online!

tl;dr

So I have been getting the
"Error Server Unavailable" since launch. :|

Haven't got into a game for more than maybe 2 minutes.
Having the hotfix for 5 minutes total each time & receiving a cooldown period whereby I cannot download the hotfix again for 48-72 hours, on all my accounts. New, Old, Primary or Secondary.

  • I remembered that I have things like "awesome file manager" & modified mw2 patches on the ps3 from previous data transfers.
  • I guessed that Black Ops 2 was scanning the HDD for improperly signed Software.
  • (You can actually check this on DEX firmware)
  • It is also possible that Blops 2 is checking the sha1sum of patches on your console.
  • You can see the HDD light flashing when you attempt to connect to Blops2 MP servers.
  • If modified/corrupt software or patches are installed you are blocked from the server.

So, I popped a blank HDD in the ps3 2 days ago & it would not connect,
It also would not connect yesterday, but now today I have played for 3 hours non-stop.
Changing between zombies & MP downloading the hotfix Multiple times.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Activision Customer Support.
I apologize for the inconvenience. The account Gusquared is banned from Call of Duty: Black Ops II, As Activision does not handle bans, or accounts, there is no further information we can provide. All bans are final, I suggest using a different gamertag to play online.

So yea i bet alot of people are going to get even more pissed when they find out that the server unavailable error will most likely not be a fix in the next patch, cuz in reality alot of us are just banned for no f***ing reason.

To re-confirm, I am still online after deleting any modded patches and home brew off my ps3 and made a brand new account afterwards.

It is a ban. Please see below;
Hello, Thanks for contacting Activision Customer Support. These accounts have been banned for violating the terms of service for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The company is committed to providing all gamers with the best online experience possible, and that means maintaining the game's integrity. We have a zero tolerance policy against exploitation, and this is to protect the many gamers who go online to compete and have legitimate fun. The developers have worked very hard to create a fun, competitive online environment, and we want to keep this environment clean so that the game can be played as it was intended. Users who abuse the game, such as through modding, boosting, glitching or making offensive emblems, degrade the online experience for others, and we take action to prevent this from happening Further information on this security and enforcement policy can be found at: You must login or register to view this content. Should you have any further need of assistance, feel free to contact us again via email or phone. Thanks, Activision Customer Support

Fuckin weak. For them to insta-ban over modding the old cod's, especially non-gayarch titles, is complete bullshit. Not once did I get any accounts banned while modding but try to play the new one legit and fucking permabanned before I can even start.

Eat a fat dick gayarch. I hope you read this

Same here...

But it seems my main a/c is banned from Blops 2 with less than 10 mins on the server... on OFW with the Disc.

Scumbags

I had about 30 mins on my main ac, 5 on my secondary and then I made 2 more before restoring and making a whole new account. Never banned on any other but banned on here for trying to play. I wish battlefield didn't suck so much dick or I'd switch to it

Looks like the delete homebrew method doesn't work anymore. Got the same server error again today.

Yea and what sucks even more is that all bans are final and not handled by activision. Either way the are breaking their own security policy,
