(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Seeing as there's a thread for the US Democrat & Republican parties... I thought it would be a good idea to make a politics related thread for here in the UK. I thought having 1 thread would increase the debates and discussion.

So yeah, talk about it here. Smile

If you don't know much about UK politics, we currently have a coalition government between the Tories & the Lib Dems (Tories didn't get the majority of votes). The four main parties are:

Conservatives - British Conservatism, British Unionism, Eurosceptism -You must login or register to view this content.

Labour - Democratic Socialism, Support the working class -You must login or register to view this content.

Liberal Democrat - Social & Green Liberalism, Internationalism, Social Democracy, Left Libertarianism -You must login or register to view this content.

UKIP - Eurosceptism, Libertarianism, Traditional Conservatism - You must login or register to view this content.

There's also parties such as BNP who are right wing, BNP in particular are very anti-immigration, SNP & Plaid Cymru who focus on independence for their constituent countries, as well as other parties such as the Green party who support British Republicanism

To be honest with you, I already think that Labour will win the next General Election unless David Cameron takes action soon or we get a surprise from the Lib Dems or UKIP.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of Miliband, I don't think he's as bad as people says he is, and he seems more in touch with the general public than Cameron is if you know what I mean. However, a Labour government is definitely not preferable for me.

I can't see Cameron winning, UKIP one MP at most.
Labour going into goverment with the lib dems. I think is likely.

I don't even consider myself a UKIP supporter but I enjoy following them, I just read the same old nonsense about the main 3 these days

UKIP is a good read if you want a joke or laugh.
Labour could win so easy but sort of not attacking on the right points. Real shame sort of wasting the lead they could have pretty easy to do. All they need to do is tell the truth come up with a plan. Most people are going to agree with not go for sound bites.

Very sad news today, Margaret Thatcher has died. A great leader, and a great influence on British Politics. She will be missed.

That's what those who believe in privatization think. There are millions who are celebrating.

From what I've read she comes across as someone I'd completely hate politically.

But that's no reason to make fun of a frail old womens death, many saw her as a hero and believe it or not she helped quite a few poor families. I was absolutely disgusted reading some of the hateful tweets earlier especially from celebrities (role models). Human beings are a disgrace.

This should be a time of giving respect and giving condolences to her family. I believe "too soon" is the phrase!

Also, it's laughable how an MP from the RESPECT party tweeted saying that he "hopes Thatcher rots in hell". Pffft, so much for respect.

If someone believes that she was an awful person, why should they respect her in death more-so than they did in life?

Sad news
Great influence in how the UK runs today and it problems. A lot of social pain caused when other methods to fix the problems could have been done. She went ahead anywho she is a lesson in how to win along with ideology gets the job done but poorly.
Margaret Thatcher said Tony Blair and New Labour was her greatest achievement.
Pretty much forced the left to change how they did things, along with the flow of the debate. No turning back after all her reforms the sad thing is some of it was a mistake.
We now have a problem of the party trying to second guess what Mrs Thatcher would have liked, they should learn off her not follow her.

I was reading what a couple economist's put on twitter and in a couple blogs. She reformed but in the process caused massive social pain for millions. You could have done it another way got the same result but less pain.
What more amazing is what she did was make the UK less equal as the result of her reforms.
Mixed bag overall on if it was a gain for you or a loss.

Smart women to do what she believed in and pick her battles.
