(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); FIRST OFF, try to create the e-mail account that is listed if you haven't already. However if that doesn't work there is two ways to reset password: through a phone call or through their help site.
Phone Call:
-Must know e-mail entered and the EXACT username used. (can find e-mail where you log in on ps3)
-On hold for 10-15 minutes.
-They ask for personal info, and then later ask for an APPROPRIATE e-mail that you actually use so they can send a message to reset your password.
You can reach them through their phone number at: 800-345-SONY
NOTE: only works during their business hours.

When I use the website, I enter my birthdate and it just says it sends me an email to the address that doesn't exist.

even with fake email, you can restore your account.

You'll need the account name, the email you used (even if it was fake) your ps3 serial number found on the back of you console

And contact sony customer support

It was weird. I just signed in and it asked for new password. Then I changed my email with no verification or anything. Oh well, I don't want to question awesomeness.

From my knowledge, if you had made purchases from the PS store, all you need to do is change the password from the PS3 (Possibly the original PS3 the account was created on, don't know about this though) when you first try to log on. If you had not made any purchases, then you need to go through the extra validation processes.

This is how it worked for me, my main account (the one I usually use, use for downloads etc) let me change the password straight away - no questions asked. To change the password on my muck-around account with fake email, details etc I need to go through the longer process (As I never made purchases on that account). I did try using the link posted above by TheReaperMan but it would only let me do it by email that way as well. I'm not overly fussed though, I can just make another muck-around account. I just wish I could use the same username, muntfunter was such a stupid name and matched all the stupid things we did on the account perfectly Awesome face.

And really, it's your own fault if you lost your account using fake details... why would you spend money on products using a fake account where you couldn't verify the details of it if you ever needed to? Claps.

Dear PlayStation®Network user:

As you may have heard, PlayStation®Network was suspended worldwide on 20 April 2011 following a criminal cyber attack on our servers. We're pleased to say that we have now started restoring some PlayStation Network services. Over the coming days, more services will be back up and running and you should keep an eye on eu.playstation.com/psnlatest and PlayStation.Blog at blog.eu.playstation.com for the very latest developments.

Before you start using PlayStation Network again...

In restoring PSN, we have introduced a safety measure which means you will need to update your PlayStation Network account password before you can start using PSN again.

If you've got a Playstation®3, you can do this by updating to system software version 3.61 and then signing in to PlayStation Network from the XMB (XrossMediaBar) Menu. Find out more at eu.playstation.com/ps3psn. Otherwise, you can change your password by visiting You must login or register to view this content. on your PC. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes and if you'd lke more help you can follow the step by step guide at eu.playstation.com/psppsn.

Free games on us...

To thank you for your patience whilst PSN has been unavailable, we'll be rolling out a Welcome Back programme for all PSN users shortly; this will include free games to download and a month's free subsciption to PlayStation®Plus (or a free month for existing members). Once available, we'll publish a full list of Welcome Back offers in your country at eu.playstation.com/welcomeback.

Again, we would like to thank you for your patience and support whilst our teams worldwide work to get PSN back up and running. Remember, for the very latest updates, you should visit eu.playstation.com/psnlatest, PlayStation.Blog at blog.eu.playstation.com and follow us on twitter.com/PlayStationEU.

We look forward to seeing you online soon,

The PlayStation Network team

The lady I talked with told me that I might not get the email for 15 business days due to how much they are dealing with. You will just have to be patient, but at least you will still be able to play on it eventually.
